If you would ask me which space in our house I love to must, I need some time to think about this. The first thing that pops up in my mind is our kitchen, but I also love our bathroom and all the other spaces. But if I have to choose, it is the kitchen.
If someone would ask you, what would you answer?
When we bought our house I wanted to have a kitchen Island, no discussion about it. I don’t like to cook and when I cook I want to be a part of the rest of the house or a living kitchen and don’t want to miss all the fun. So cooking becomes a little more fun. When I cook my face is towards to dining room and I’m also in contact with the living room. Also handy when you need to have an eye on your kids.
When we have dinner with friends, you won’t miss anything, because everyone is around you. When you are cooking, you can also enjoy a good glass of wine and have a nice talk with everyone.
Another reason is that when we wake up as a family, the first room we go to is our kitchen. I make some breakfast for the kids and us. When we come home after a working day, we start our evening in the kitchen to have some food.
I think many people, including myself, can find it a bit difficult to decorate the bathroom..
Ideas may seem hard to come by, and the decor from the rest of the house doesn’t seem quite suitable in there.
I got a few easy tips on how to make the bathroom welcoming and modern, that is also easy on the wallet.
I love the good atmosphere and fresh spa feeling in a bathroom, and I get so inspired after visiting nice hotels, restaurants, and spas.
To me, the bathroom is like a personal sanctuary where I can chill out and get some alone time, where all the stress and thoughts disappear.
To create that spa feeling in my white and grey bathroom, I have added some details of wood and green plants to bring in the colors of nature and to bring in warmth, lots of candles, scent and nice products to create a feeling of peace and wellness.
I have invested in some bathbrushes, sponges and nice spa products like sea scrubs and eucalyptus soaps. Very relaxing. The wooden caddy across the bathtub can hold your books, a glass of wine, candles, and soaps and it’s a good way to incorporate decoration.
A little side-table stool makes it feel comfortable and has also a practical purpose to hold your fresh towels, soaps etc.
Bring in a bit of nature to get that spa feeling:)
If you have a small space bathroom, here are some easy tricks to make the room feel larger:
– Lighter colors have the ability to make a room seem larger
– Invest in good lights to open up the room and avoiding any dark corners
– Adding big mirrors gives the illusion of depth in the room
– Avoid shower curtains. Open up the room with glass a door instead
– Think about smart solutions for storage! Pinterest has lots of inspiration and smart ideas.
– Use decorative boxes for all the small stuff laying around and use it as decor
Here is a small shelf unit from IKEA (Hyllis, only 98 NOK!) that I spray painted white.
I feel like its time to put on some chill lounge music and take a dip in a warm bubbly bathtub! (..and try to stay there for more than five minutes before I get restless 😉
Have a lovely day!
A nice home has always been very important to me and that’s why I try hard to make it as nice and comfortable as possible.
There are many small things that can make the home prettier.
I’ll show you my top five things that make a huge impact in your home:
I love fresh flowers!
Flowers always bring friendliness in a room and make it appear homely. I cannot imagine my home without fresh flowers or decorative branches.
I like to buy rare flowers and they must not be too colorful.
A definitely invisible decoration element for me, because vases are simply part of every home! Whether a flower vase or the vase standing alone as a decorative element.
You can never have enough vases!
Photos and pictures tell stories and bring forth your own personality into the room. I also like to hang the pictures but on a sideboard or just to put on the floor.
Usually, I choose my pictures depending on the season.
Different light sources: indirect, warm light makes the room much more comfortable. Table or floor lamps provide a cozy ambiance in the room.
PILLOWS & BLANKETS
Last but not least – pillows and blankets:
With pillows and blankets, you can change the whole color scheme of a room and make it look very different.
I do not like it too colorful though. I always mix color nuances, only size and texture are different. What should never be missing is a fur pillow and a cozy blanket!
These days I’m bringing nature inside. A good and fun way to decorate in autumn is to take a trip outside and gather a lot of different leaves, straws, and flowers like I have done here. And the best of all, it’s for free 🙂
And if you add some fruit in a bow and a sheepskin in your favorite chair, you complete the autumn feeling indoors I think. With this tip you can easily change the look in your home in no time but beware, you may get addicted 😉
I think these straws will stand forever, or at least as long as I want. Straws are something everyone can get, also if you don`t have a garden to pick in. Just go for a walk, I guess you will be surprised by all the beauty you will see and find!
We all love gallery walls and no wonder why. They will never go out of style, they are an excellent way to add interest to that blank space on a large wall and what’s best, let us show our style and personality when decorating our homes. Only your favorite motives and frames are needed. And a little bit of planning is recommended of course.
A frame gallery wall around TV is a great way to prettify that ugly black box in your livingroom. I just loved the way it helped me to make the TV look a little more bearable but it’s much harder to focus on watching TV now than before. The wall is just too compelling!
When it comes to TV gallery wall, it can be a little tricky. How to hide that black box. Well, as a monochrome lover it was a bit easier for me to find the perfect selection of frames and motives and for me black & white was the only way to go. I actually didn’t plan it that much and I got a few tips from my friend Trine @bytrineravn as she is a master of planning those walls we are so scared of. On my wall I used the posters and frames I had already and the motives were easy to mix together. But it took me a while to get those frames up on the wall as I live rental and was afraid to ruin the wall with ugly holes. That’s why it’s better to plan the group before hammering.
Fortunately there are many inspiring photos and tutorials for gallery walls all over the internet (e.g. Instagram, Pinterest, and Youtube). Here, let me show you some inspiration that I found on Instagram.

Have a cozy autumn my dear readers and remember to light up some candles… See ya!
Today I want to share some pictures from my trip to Norways biggest design exhibition, Oslo Design Fair, and I will sum up what I have learned about the core values and trends for 2019.
It was such a fun experience with lovely food, good conversations, interesting lectures and showrooms on trends for the year to come.
The core values of 2019 is Trust, Sympathy, Honesty, Harmony and Playfull, and we will see these values in both fashion and interior design.
We as consumers is feeling guilty on our daily consumption, and are more and more conscious of our everyday choices with sustainable material things that last over time (Sympathy, Honesty).
The trend tendencies are more down-to-earth, and yellow, beige, brown and rusty-red are colors that will get even more space in 2019.
We will see more natural delicate prints, art, designs that are abstract and personal with a bit of wellness/zen tendency: Smoke, shadow, therapy/mood lights, water and pottery (Harmony)
The human is connected, and hand & machine are more melted together in production. We see simple, handmade designs, sculptures, human bodies, faces, animals and Picasso inspired art (Playful)
Designs become softer with smooth lines instead of hard contrast. Columns, half circles, wavy and delicate forms.. Materials will be mixed together and we want them to be natural and organic, like wool and linen. We will also see a mix of surfaces and transparency (glass/plexiglass)
I love the mixture of different materials and surfaces, softness, shine and interesting shapes that gives life and personality to the home, and think its so great that we as consumers are getting even more aware of sustainability and want to choose quality over quantity, and make a change.
And last, I want to thank my good friend Vanessa for a lovely and inspirational trip 🙂
I recommend checking out her home, @minvinkel on Instagram.
She is all about sustainability and second-hand things, mixing new and old elements together in perfect balance. A home of soul that is reflecting their kind and awesome personality as well 🙂
Have a sweet day!
Autumn is finally here! And what doesn’t sound better than updating the bedroom with some new details to maximize the autumn coziness? We go towards darker times and cooler weather. We spend more and more time at home in the bed, so it may be nice to cheer up with some new interior details that make the home feel cozy and welcoming.
But don’t worry – just because a new season is here doesn’t mean that you need to buy totally new furniture. Small updated details can make a lot for the room. Here’s my top 10 favorite items right now to make the bedroom autumn-ready!
1. Duvet cover, Granit
Well, OF COURSE, you need a new duvet cover. And make it a little more autumn-inspired with darker, duller tones.

One huge trend right now in home decor is circles. They are so beautiful with their clean lines and sophisticated looks and is a must-have in Nordic design.
Like in my first designs, circles can be shown in different ways. Fx. Vases, candle holders and decorating rings, which I will tell more about later.
You can find lots of different candle holders with a circular design at the moment. They come in black, silver, and gold where you can place different sized candles in different places.
On a table, like this candle holder at my first design, from Søstrene Grene’s newest catalog.
On the wall in my second design is from Menu, and I have seen lots of candle holders, as a hanger, from Ferm Living.
Circle shaped mirrors are also very trendy with or without frames and in different sizes.
This one is also from Søstrene Grene and comes in 70 cm.
Mirrors have the amazing ability to make a room look bigger and brighter, it is like a movable window. If you move a mirror across a window there will appear more natural light to the room from the reflection of the mirror. The more natural light in a room the healthier soul. Especially in this upcoming dark winter days. Therefore mirrors is a must have in every home decoration. It is super trendy and makes you happier.
You can also make your own home decoration with circles. It is always so fun to make your own mark in your home, with just some simple things.
I´ve made these rings for about 100,- dkk
You will need:
Metal rings, in whatever size you want them to be and in the color you like.
Wire, in a matching color.
Flower/ leaves, fake or real. (They really don´t last very long though)
Just use your imagination. There are no rules. Make them with flowers, just leaves or both.
I used eucalyptus leaves, cut them into a size that fits and tied them up with the wire. DONE! Easy peasy.
I wanted to hang them down from the ceiling with fishing line. But you can also hang them on the wall with nails.
Now you got some personality in your home styling.
Are you tired of your kitchen and want to renew it, but don’t want to spend a lot of money on it?
Well, keep calm. Decorating a kitchen can often feel boring, time-consuming and expensive. Fortunately, there are many things you can do, without sacrificing a fortune, that gives your kitchen a lift and makes it feel new and fresh.
Working with open shelves is super-trendy right now. Either you put up the shelf on the wall or you use a floor shelf like me. My shelf comes from Ikea and it’s called “Hyllis”, it works perfectly in the kitchen. The porcelain colors look beautiful and are really eye-catching. If you have some exclusive porcelain you still don’t wanna hide it in the bottom of your shelves, right?
REPLACE YOUR KITCHEN DETAILS
If you don’t want to spend money on a major renovation, there are many small details you can look over. Start by replacing the knobs and handles on the kitchen hatches. Replacing mixers, painting the tile with tile color and replacing the kitchen towels can also give your kitchen a big boost.
FRESH HERBS AND PLANTS
Go out and buy some fresh herbs and green plants and place in the kitchen. Greens can really lift any room, and make it feel fresh. Fresh herbs smell wonderful, and you can also use it in your cooking. Basil, coriander, and mint are my favorites. A nice bowl of fresh fruit also makes the kitchen feel inviting and homely.
Many kitchens have a very cold light that can make it feel uninviting. If possible, replace the lights on the ceiling with some warmer light-sources. Place some candles here and there to get the same cozy feeling as the rest of your home.
CREATE A CHALKBOARD
A great tip is to fix your own chalkboard. If you have a dull corner in the kitchen, you can paint with chalk paint to get the same function as a chalkboard, where you can write with chalk-pens. If you have children, this is a very popular way to use their creativity. If you don’t have children, it can be a good place for to-do-lists, shopping-lists or weekly menus. It’s a really fun and personal element in your kitchen.
Kids room is my absolute favorite when it comes to decorating and creating DIY ́s. There are «no rules»
and I can play around with fun and colorful toys and accessories. Myself as a kid loved spending time in
my own special place where I felt safe and could be creative in.
My kids rooms where the first to be
prioritized when we moved into our new house, and I think kids rooms are the reason why I became so
into the interior in the first place. I think creativity is contagious and I want to inspire my kids to have fun and
be creative as much as they can.
«creativity is inventing, experimenting, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun»
Diy Shelf for decor and hanging some favorite outfits. The H is a DIY lamp
Look at these cute donuts! I found them at Etsy and sew them together in a string
IKEA hack: paint «mosslanda» shelves for books and toys
A color combination I really love for girls room is pink, mint and gold. Its cute and childish, and are
happy colors for a kids room!
Now she`s moved into a different room that’s a little bigger and closer to the toilet. Here she has more
space for her play kitchen and can host tea parties:)
IKEA hack: «Latt» table and chairs painted in various dice colors
IKEA hack: «Rast» commode with decals
If it was up to me I would have painted the room in a gender-neutral color, but of course the little boss of
this room is the one entitled to make that desition 😉
Sheep and the sheepskin softens up the floor, and details/furniture in wood is a great way of adding a
calm feeling to the room.
Sharing some tips for decorating kids rooms:
– Think about the little one’s interest, and use it in the decor to make the room personal. Ask them questions and make a plan together. Pinterest is full of inspiration!
– Toys are cute for decorating and invites the kids to play. Put some nice toys up and visible instead
of stuffing them all away in a box
– Storage! An uncluttered space is a peaceful space.. Get several bigger and smaller boxes for
storage, and make them available for the kids to reach. Kids love to have their different little
«treasure chests» to put their favorite things in.
– Create a magical mood in the room with different light strings on batteries. My girl love these and
likes to have them all on as we put her to bed at night.
– Use textiles to give a comfy feeling in the room. Sheepskin, cute pillows, chunky knit blankets,
– The kids spent much time playing on the floors.. so if the floors in your house tend to get cold, its
nice to put in a carpet to play on.
– You can find lots of cute things in second-hand stores or flea markets! Give them a new life with
just a little paint or with spray cans. It’s eco-friendly and easy on the wallet!
